Adult Discipleship

Fall 2019

Set Free

Saturday September 21 | 8:30 AM - 2 PM

Addiction is not going away! The Set Free one-day conference, taught by Joe and Cherri Freeman held at Grace Community Church, will help you gain knowledge about how to love family members and friends that are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. The informative day will shed light on the anatomy of addition and its effects on the addict’s family and friends. Joe and Cherri Freeman have surveyed common remedies offered to those in addiction and where these remedies fall short. They explore the solution offered by Jesus Christ, the ultimate bondage breaker, and how a victorious life can be lived in union with him.

Saturday, November 2 | 8 - 11:30 AM

Parenting can be hard! We know that some of you may be experiencing infant sleep deprivation while others may be wondering why your teenager thinks that they know everything. The different stages of parenting bring new sets of challenges that often teach us much about ourselves as individuals. Paul David Tripp wrote “God hasn’t just sent you to do his work in the life of your children; he will use the lives of your children to advance his work in you.” Let’s join together to tackle common challenges that we face and reflect on what God is doing in the lives of our families.

Join Alyssa Roberts, Don Julian, & Paul Weitzel for a family breakfast and discussion on Technology and Culture. Navigate how ever-changing technology and social norms influence one another. Ask questions and present ideas for topics that will be discussed in future forums here at GCC.

The Gospel of Mark

Wednesdays, October 2 - December 18 | 7 - 8:30 PM (Skip November 27)

Cost: $7 per book

The drama of Mark’s Gospel peaks in Caesarea Philippi. It’s a religious mecca where every religion can be found. We don’t know if Jesus preached a sermon there, but he did ask two questions - “Who do people say I am?” (Mark 8:27) and “Who do you say that I am?” (verse 29). There is only one response “You are the Messiah (verse 29).” That is the answer that has the power to change a life. In Max Lucado’s 12-lesson Bible study, Life Lessons from Mark, led by Mike Brault, you’ll discover that every miracle and parable found in Mark’s story of Jesus is a reminder to us: Jesus is the Messiah.

The Book of Galatians

Tuesdays, October 1 – November 12 | 7 - 8:30 PM

In Paul’s letter to the Galatians, led by Carl Butler, we will examine the rhetorical flair, sarcasm, and hyperbole Paul uses to write his most passionate letter. You will come to understand the issues Paul was addressing in his letter, and gain insight into how the book can be applied today. This course addresses some of the most controversial topics in Pauline theology; such as the law, justification by faith, righteousness, and faith itself.
