The Jealousy of God

Have you ever thought about the jealousy of God? In most cases, jealousy is not a commendable virtue. So, to think that God is jealous, can be troubling to us, until we realize that God’s jealousy is an outpouring of God’s deep love for us – everyone of us. Simply stated, God wants to be the first and only God in your life. He wants you to love Him with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. God does not want to share you with another “god” just as no loving husband wants to share his wife with another man or loving wife wants to share her husband with another woman. God wants you to want Him above and before anything and anyone else in life, which brings us to this next and dramatic story of Elijah in 1 Kings 18. As you prepare for worship this weekend at GCC, take time to read the entire chapter. I look forward to focusing our attention on verses 16-39 as we are challenged to consider who’s in control of our lives!
