NOT JUST A FISH STORY
He wanted to teach me things, know me, for me to know him, and how much he loved and cared about me.
THE LOVE OF GOD
This morning I told my wife that I love her, and the night before I watched basketball, which I also love. Not the same.
OUR SOURCE OF TRUE JOY
True joy is not dependent on other human beings or earthly things.
UNCONTAINABLE: THE HOLINESS OF GOD
Heaven doesn’t quake at God being called “love, love, love” or “mercy, mercy, mercy”. However, all creation takes a step back when God is called “Holy, holy, holy”.
OVERCOMING APATHY
Doubt is an area that I have always struggled with. I can remember many times standing at a graveside, comforting the family with the hope of a future reunion, and wondering: Will they? Will they see them again?
THE PLANS THAT WEREN’T
Who could have known that in just two weeks the world as we had known it would come crashing down?

JONAH’S DO-OVER
Jonah messed up the first time and now God was giving him a second chance. Unbelievable!
JOY IN THE MORNING
Tearfully, with heavy hearts we called David and sobbed that we wouldn’t be able to attend his graduation. The phone woke me the next morning, “Is Edith Nettleton there?” It was the nursing home to say my dad had died.
DROWNING IN REGRET
Just because one sinks to the depths doesn’t mean one has a truly repentant heart.
WALKING THROUGH THE SEASON
God was leading Ryan and me through this valley of the shadow of death. That means there is another side to this valley.
KNOWLEDGE IS A WONDERFUL THING
I know quite a bit. I just didn’t know Concord was the capital of New Hampshire. Like I said, I don’t know everything.
O-B-E-D-I-E-N-C-E
Who are the difficult ones that God is asking you to share His love and forgiveness with?
TWISTED NECK SYNDROME
Over ten years ago I entered a season in which I spent most of my time looking back and longing for the past. I soundly rejected the reversals and didn’t want change.
ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES
We can tend to have a low view of how God fulfills our needs. It is easy to focus on our bellies, our clothes, or our wallets, but who in all of this universe can secure our very soul?
IGNORING THE HURTING SHOE
He is not a God who will say, “You’re fine. I need to go.” when we complain to Him about the “Play-doh” in our shoes.
THE MAN WHO THREW THE STICK
Having a genuine relationship with Jesus is far different than singing “Kumbaya” and continuing the rest of one’s life happily skipping along, without change.
LOVE YOU MR. STONER!
He told me “I hate you!” Didn’t he realize who he was talking to? I’m the sub whom everybody loves, the same one who has been rated by small children: “Best Sub Ever”
VERY GOOD GIFTS
I don’t need to carry the weight of providing for our needs; that responsibility belongs to Him, our Heavenly Father.
BAD MEMORY LOVE
It is amazing what I can remember when I think I have been wronged.
WHAT’S ON YOUR WISH LIST THIS CHRISTMAS?
We would spend hours flipping through the pages of that catalog picking out toys, marking pages and circling all the things we just had to have.
DUCT TAPE REQUIRED!
I had no love for the man who had lost his way. In my anger, I was the resounding gong, the clanging cymbal, the noise that makes no difference. I might as well of been that backfire from a car or the slamming of a door. You hear it, but ignore it.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Jesus also had some “boys” with a thick skull and a hard heart.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
It looked like it would be a long and lean period of walking by faith. We kept moving forward, praying for God to provide our needs.
HEARTS ON THE WALL
My son’s justification for his crayon masterpiece on the bare wall was because of his brother’s own “masterpiece” on the opposite wall.
THE PHONE CALL
Sally had never encountered a believer who would carefully listen, wouldn’t get offended by her language, and would not give up on her as a lost cause.
SHINING A LIGHT ON OUR FEARS

It is no accident that God has chosen to call us sheep. The behavior of sheep and human beings are similar in many ways…. sheep do not ‘just take care of themselves’ as some might suppose. They require more than any other class of livestock endless attention and meticulous care.
STEPPING INTO THE UNKNOWN
It was a tremendous leap of faith and I’m glad I went. With each day at camp, I began to know God better and things began to change in my life.

THE BIRTHMARK
“Oh no! Go to doctor?” I was finding myself reassuring him that nothing was wrong with him. This mark was part of who he was.
