LOOK AT ME, I’M A BLOOMIN TREE!

Is a tree just a stick in the mud? Or could it possibly be more? Almost, dare I say, human? After all, God as a burning bush, spoke to Moses!

Trees begin from seed, and grow tall, short, fat, or skinny. Their bark may be rough, smooth, thick, thin, and of assorted colors, like ours. Their leaves or needles have various shapes, thicknesses, and colors. Trees crave food through the leaves & roots.

Like trees, we are blessed with God-given gifts. Trees share their gifts of bananas, apples, acorns, coffee beans, tea leaves, cherries, flowers, etc. Do we share our gifts of preaching service, athletic, music, blogging, etc?

BLOOMING WHERE PLANTED

Trees bloom where they’re born and die; never leaving that one spot. In contrast, people move; often dying somewhere other than where we’re born. Then, after relocating, we sometimes sit around bemoaning that it’s just not home, and no one knows us. We feel bored, not using our gifts.

WHAT IF WE SPREAD OUR BRANCHES?

There’s no valid reason to stay stuck in the mud. What if we make a choice, a conscious decision to find a church? Why not decide to join a group where we can share our gifts, as well as grow from those of the people around us? Like trees, we can spread our branches and grow our roots,

MOSES, DAVID AND JOSEPH BLOOMED

Moses, called by God, moved to Egypt, where he led the Hebrews to the Promised Land. David used his gifts: music, military prowess, and writing to serve as the King of Israel. Joseph used his ability to interpret dreams to save a nation from starvation. Like trees, they spread their roots and bloomed where they were. Their gifts blessed thousands.

OUR UNIQUE FRUITS

According to I Corinthians 12:4-26, we’re blessed with many gifts. Like Moses, David, Joseph & others, reach out with your God given gifts; hone them, share them, and grow in them. You are one of a kind! God has uniquely created you to share your gifts for Him. You don’t have to be someone else. Afterall, a peach tree doesn’t try to become a date tree. A banana tree does not try to grow coffee beans. Use your gifts. Think like a tree and bloom where you’re planted.
