CloseIt has been said that God wastes neither word nor phrase in His Word. Every detail is significant or it wouldn’t take up space on these powerful pages. Every paragraph, every event, every place, and every person has a story to tell and a lesson to teach, which brings us to the subject of our fall sermon series – the prophet Elijah. His story is largely contained within 1 Kings 17 to 2 Kings 2 with references to him sprinkled among the pages of the New Testament. It’s a dramatic story and I would encourage you to read it over the next few days. You can read Elijah’s story in one sitting and, when you do, you will discover that Elijah is one of the great lives of God’s Word. Even though he lived nearly 3000 years ago, Elijah has a story to tell and lessons to teach today – lessons that will deepen our faith in God and prepare us to face the challenges of life.
