I recently had my first vendor show. I felt intense fear before the event even commenced.
WHAT IF??
My imagination was in overdrive. What if my table fell with my product on it? I pictured someone coming over to my display, seeing my product, picking up a journal, and everything coming crashing down! How would I respond? I imagined myself just standing there awkwardly mumbling to the customer, “Sorry about that….”.
At the same time, my brain would be racing: “Let me run into a swap full of alligators or to the nearest door, whatever would be the closest.”
Seriously, I had a whole night of anxiety thinking about it and considered not attending the event. I’m so glad I pushed through the fear.
I was worried about saving my table, but in comparison, Queen Esther was a wonderful woman who pushed through her fear as well. I mean, Esther had to save all her people, including herself.
If you don’t know the story of Esther, here is a quick version. Esther was the new Queen in town, and her husband, the king’s right-hand man, Haman, had a plan to kill every Jew again, including Esther.
WHAT IF YOU ARE THERE BY GOD’S PLAN?
“Do not think that because you are in the king’s house, you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13-14)
Esther pushed through her fear. It resulted in her initiating a complicated dinner conversation/confrontation that rescued the lives of thousands. She didn’t let doubt creep in. You know what, her people were saved. Her people were saved!!!!
I PUSHED THROUGH
Something unique happened when I pushed through my fear. God gave me the privilege to hear customers’ stories: they bought my products for a new believer in Jesus, their foster daughter, & someone just needed encouragement about a relationship that ended.
So next time you need to push through your fear, remember, “For such a time as this…”
